I believe this is my most successful image for this assignment because it really highlights the category of ethically evaluative. By having the juxtaposition of the plants framing the power plant I believe it brings into question whether the damage done to the environment is worth the power provided by the power plant. I think the most challenging part about this assignment was trying to determine how I could use the world around me to depict each of the categories. In the future, I think I will look at more professional examples of the categories first so that I have a better idea about what to look for in my own photography.

"Hi Jessica! I really like this explanatory image you took; it perfectly showcases how you create your art. I think having the two focal points of the paint and the painting is really interesting, it's almost like a before and after of a painting (you start out with just paint and then create something beautiful). I also think what you said about showing your personality through photography is really smart, when we are focusing on a subject we enjoy, we can create much better images!"

Hey Emma, this is a really great photo that you have taken! Having plants in the front of the image somewhat frames the power plant farther in the distance that is actually the focus of the image. This also brings in the idea of the negative affects that power plants have on our environment. I also enjoy the contrast that black and white photos have.

Hi Emma, this is a great image! This is a black-and-white photograph using strong contrast and framing. Foliage in the foreground plays the role of a fram which helps guiding my eye to the focus of the picture-the industrial cooling tower a distance away. The negative space used in the sky, combined with the soft texture of the smoke coming out of the tower, adds amazing dynamism to the overall composition. Great job on this piece!

Hi Emma! I love this photo you took! I love how the photograph is in black and white that really emphasizes the contrast between the plants and the power plant. I also love how the power plant is a little off center, overall great photography!

Hi Emma! I love this image. I love how you were able to capture not only the power plant, but the scenery around it and kind of creating a sense of how power plants can impact our environment. Amazing photo! - Jordan Bryant

Hi Emma,

I love your photo. It is a striking image. I like how the greenery of nature is in stark contrast with the looming nuclear powerplant. I think it is sending a strong message and is very visually appealing. I also love your choice to make it black and white. This adds an extra layer of drama and is a good use of the technique we learned in the last assignment. Great Job!

I really like this photo and I think the meaning behind it is really important. I like how the shrubs and trees frame the picture and that they are shadowed while the power plant and background are lighter. This contrast really brings attention to the power plant in the middle. I also think that by making the photo black and white you giving the image a serious tone, which matches the meaning. Elena Ferrer
